TTAG President Sparks Outrage with Unequal Donations to Colleges of Education
In what has become a controversial move, the President of the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has come under heavy criticism following his recent donation to Peki College of Education. According to students and concerned observers, the TTAG President presented a single dustbin to the entire college — a gesture many have described as disrespectful and belittling.
What has fueled the anger even more is the discovery that the same TTAG President, in other recent visits to different Colleges of Education, donated modernized pulpits and other meaningful educational resources. This unequal treatment has not sat well with students of Peki College, who feel sidelined and disrespected by the leadership of an association that is supposed to represent all teacher trainees equally.
Some students took to social media to express their disappointment, asking hard questions such as:
“Is a dustbin the only thing TTAG thinks we deserve?”
“Why are other colleges receiving meaningful donations while Peki is given a trash can?”
“Does TTAG see Peki College as inferior to the others?”
Many students believe that the donation does not reflect the needs or dignity of the college and view the act as a clear case of bias or negligence. They argue that Peki College, which has a proud history of producing excellent teachers, deserves better — especially from a national student body like TTAG.
In response to the growing backlash, students are calling on the TTAG leadership to provide clarity on the criteria used in selecting the nature of donations for various schools. Some are even pushing for an official apology and a more thoughtful, beneficial contribution to the Peki College community.
This incident raises broader questions about how national student associations make decisions and whether all institutions under their watch are treated fairly and with equal respect. As the story continues to unfold, it remains to be seen whether the TTAG President will address the concerns or ignore the outcry from a clearly disappointed student body.
Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
